Opportunities for Young Artists. Beauty for Our City.

In the summer of 2018, Creative Waco brought an exceptional new program to our community. ARTPrenticeship offers real-world concept-to-completion mentored work experience for talented high school students and new artistic masterpieces for our city in the form of striking murals and public art. The program was modeled on Cincinnati's award-winning ArtWorks. You can find ARTPrenticeship’s murals on 2nd St. and Jackson Ave., Brotherwell Brewing, Waco Family Medicine's Martin Luther King Jr. Community Clinic, The Cove, TFNB Your Bank For Life's East Waco Branch, and the Dr Pepper Museum.

ARTPrenticeship connects young creatives from Waco ISD’s internship program with local professional artists to create fresh and eye-catching works of art that reflect the history, aspirations and beauty of our community. By collaborating with business owners, sponsors, and community leaders, the program provides so much more than a regular internship. It teaches participants the transferable skills to manage every stage of a creative project from idea to icon. If you are passionate about beauty for our city, and want to invest in gifted young creatives, please consider sponsoring our apprentices! ARTPrenticeship 2022 kicked off May 31st in partnership with Triple Win Waco in order to expand our hiring capabilities around McLennan County. Triple Win's campus is located downtown on 11th and Webster, and this year's mural will become the face of their new makerspace: the Shop on Webster. Artist mentors and apprentices will have the opportunity to give feedback and help shape the final touches of the mural design! Other opportunities for our visual arts apprentices include creating their own immersive exhibition at local gallery Cultivate712, and our film apprentices will be creating a short form documentary on a Waco-centric topic of their own choosing. We are delighted to partner with Triple Win Waco, an organization with similar DNA and values at heart, in order to activate their new space for local makers and creatives!

Keep up with the program on Facebook and Instagram at @artprenticeship!
